As a graduate of the Ohio State University College of Dentistry, I was fortunate to be exposed to many different opinions regarding controversial topics in dentistry. The chairman of our orthodontic department was very proactive in the early treatment of orthodontic problems. After graduation I embraced this philosophy, and have been providing early orthodontic intervention for hundreds of children. This approach treats teeth and jaws starting at birth to manage growth , development, and deformations. Utilizing various treatment modalities in one or more phases of orthodontics provides my patients with beautiful, broad, healthy smiles. This early intervention recognizes that 80%-90% of jaw growth occurs by the age 8. Nurturing the period of growth from birth to age 8 is important if adequate space for adult teeth is to be achieved, thereby preventing the need for permanent teeth to be extracted. If someone you know or love has early orthodontic problems I urge you to have them visit my office for a no-charge consultation.
