Much of what I know as a dental clinician has occurred after I graduated from dental school. Although I received an exceptional education at The Ohio State University College of Dentistry, I was only armed with enough information and skills to perform the simplest of dental tasks. Post graduate education is therefore where much of my training has occurred, and I am privileged to know some of the most brilliant clinicians in the world. This past weekend I attended an Alabama Implant Study Group meeting in Cape Reddick, Maine. The main speaker Dr. Balwart Vekaria is an English Clinician who performs cutting edge implantology. During the weekend I was presented with incredible amounts of information about new and innovative surgical techniques. Dr. Vekaria’s emphasis is on surgical techniques that are less traumatic and more aesthetic than ever before. For many years implantologists were just happy with successful integration of the implant. Today, thanks to Dr. Vekaria we can provide implants with precise aesthetics resulting in beautiful smiles.
